Earth Day

Even though students were on their Spring Break, Sacred Heart still celebrated Earth Day on April 22nd! Teachers, parents and students worked together last beautiful Saturday - to get their gardens ready for spring AND summer plantings! The school master garden had strawberries growing and blackberry blooms full! The lower elementary sensory garden was starting to sprout with herbs! Our American Heritage Girls club worked hard pulling weeds to prepare the soil for their new "Mary's Garden". Many parishioners worked to prepare the parish's large "Our Lord's Bounty" garden for summer vegetables, used to help feed local needy families. Sacred Heart School does have an EARTH DAY celebration planned AGAIN for Tuesday, May 16th, where students will work with volunteers from NC Cooperative Extension, Rowan County Bee Keepers Association, NC LandTrust, RSS-Horizons and Rowan County Master Gardener Association to learn about our earth, gardens, wildlife AND being good stewards of our Earth.
