2011 SHCS Tip-Off Tournament
     Sacred Heart Catholic School hosted its third-annual Tip-Off Tournament to kick off this year’s middle school basketball season. Area schools that participated included the Salisbury Academy Jaguars, the North Hills Eagles, as well as the Immaculate Heart of Mary Eagle’s out of High Point, with all schools bringing both JV & Varsity teams. The tournament began Thursday evening with JV Semi-Final games, followed by Varsity Semi-Finals on Friday & Consolation/Championship games all day Saturday. The Boyd Dolphin Tank was packed all weekend with supporters and fans of the tournament.

     Sacred Heart JV Girls finished the tournament with a 3rd place win (26-6) over Immaculate Heart of Mary, losing earlier in the week to North Hills Christian. Julia Honeycutt was named All-Tournament from the JV Girls. The JV Boys fought hard throughout the weekend, coming out on top with a Championship win over North Hills Christian (32-23). The JV Dolphins beat IHM 23-21 on a last second shot in the Semi-Finals. Michael Childress & Will Taylor were named All-Tournament.

     In varsity girls games, Immaculate Heart of Mary advanced to the championship by a 30-17 win over the Lady Dolphins and North Hills defeated the Jags 33-18. IHM defeated North Hills to clench the championship win for the weekend. Both Caroline Parrott & Kaytee Leonguerrero were named All-Tournament Team, with the Lady Dolphins finishing in 3rd place. Sacred Heart’s Middle School Varsity Boys defeated Immaculate Heart of Mary, High Point 49-33 in the Semi-Finals, advancing to the Championship game, taking on North Hills Christian. The dolphins were defeated in the final game of the tournament, finishing the weekend in 2nd place overall. Joseph Harrison & Max Fisher were named All-Tournament Team.

     Sacred Heart JV & Varsity Cheerleaders participated in the Tip-Off’s Cheerleading Exhibition, along with the Immaculate Heart of Mary Cheerleaders.
